One was first invited to climb a tall ladder lining against the wall of a building. On the top of the ladder, attached to the wall, was a small cylinder pointing at the sky with a small hole on the bottom. When looking through the hole, rather than seeing the sky, one would see a transparency image illuminated from the back. The transparency had been taken from the top of the ladder, looking down, while a person on the ground besides the stairs was looking and pointing up at the camera.
